Keeping up with the big boys.....

Stan trying to sidle up to his brothers and cousins. Inspired by this lady and her circle layout, I continued to use up some more patterned papers scraps. I'm not sure I'll make it onto prompt 3 at this rate.

Bob the Builder....

...and his {{{pink}}} baby.

I started Shimelle's class "Something from almost nothing" and as usual I'm plodding along....way behind the prompts. As I said in the previous post, the first prompt was to use metal. You'll be pleased to know I did find my metal box....but it was a little too late...I'd already completed this simple layout.

(Bazzill Swiss Dot, DCVW yellow patterned paper, unable to remember the manufacture of the star and dot paper...sorry!)
Notice the metal brads....something I haven't used for a while!
Before I go I made a note of some blog posts I thought you might be interested in:-
1. How to create a layout...step by step....on Sarah's Cards Blog.
2. Tips on creating butting on the Kaisercraft site....in case you hadn't noticed Bunting is HUGE at the moment!!
3. and a gorgeous wall hanging also on the Kaisercraft site.....{{{i really want to try to do one of these}}}
4. Bubblefunk is showing some beautiful fabric mini book's.
5. and then there's this spring reef....which I love...and although I always admire them and think it's a fab way of using up all those scraps, I will probably never ever get around to creating one.
Wishing you all a super weekend and if you find yourself surfing the net then you may want to hop over to the happyscrapper who is hosting a blog party this weekend - It sounds like there will be lots of ideas and inspiration.

Something from Almost Nothing...

Shimelle's new class started last week.
Prompt one was to use metal.....I have one of them Really Useful Boxes.....which I use just for metal....you know those metal tags, corners, washers etc....but do you think I can find it...NO!! My scrap stash is quite well organised (I think!) but it is scattered all over the house. With no dedicated room ("sigh"... I so wish!) I use whatever space is available for storing stash. My excuse to buy more is to say "its for the classes".
Shimelle challenged us to photograph our stash, so I put together a little collage.
  • 1 sideboards (two of the top drawers hold punches) which holds papers and embellies.
  • 1 four door sideboard which holds stamps, big shot, paints, threads, scraps and RUB's.
  • a corner for two big bags and a guillotine.
  • a shelf in the study (no photo) for magazines and books.
  • a very high top wardrobe shelf in younger sons bedroom for material, more stamps, dreamcuts.
  • Plus a low shelf for sewing machine.........which is rather antique and very rarely comes out
  • a metal cabinet in the garage for the sizzix dies and bind it all.
  • and then there's a chest........which holds all my books/albums:-

Sketch #3

Sketch #3 uses three photos, a number I normally work in. Maybe it's because I have three children, maybe it's because we're told to plant in odd numbers and not even.....all i know is three works well for me!

Thanks again to everyone at Fridays class who used the sketch.....and I'd like to say thank you to Jacky for introducing two of her friends to scrapbooking, Pat and Barbara.....it was lovely to meet you and we hope to see you all at the next class.

This is why I scrapbook....

Back in January, while I was still working on JYC, Shimelle posted a project on her blog "This is why I scrapbook". After having a look at her project and all the competition entrants I knew I wanted to have a go....So after pinching (although I'd like to think of it more as a "compliment" to those people that came up with the fabulous idea's!) ideas from all the talented posted entrants (which you can find here!) I was ready.

Taking advantage of a week off work to recover from a chest infection I settled down with the following items to create my mini book:-
1. 7x5 Zutter Bind it all Cover All
2. 7x5 Zutter Bind it all acrylic tabbed pages
3. Some old tags I've been harbouring for a while
4. Literally all those odd bits and pieces of patterned paper.
5. Bits of ribbon and string
6. and some paint.

Here it is:
My Story - My Memories
The front cover - not sure what happened to this oh so small photo!
Why OH Why!!....
1st Page - this is one of the scrap-lifted ideas that I love, using a bingo card as a page.
The inside
.....do I scrapbook.....this is why}...
oopps my bracket has fallen off! its supposed to be after the "why"!

"For Us"

"and them"

" for ME"
"and to remember moments like these"

Now i'm ready to start Shimelle next class "Something from almost nothing"
Thank you for stopping by.

Sketch #2

It was my intention to post a sketch every month - where did February go? - my excuse is that Feb is a short month and i......ran out of days! So......a little later than planned, here is Sketch #2.

I am a big fan of one photo layouts....its much better to have more room to play around with on a LO!....but there are occasions when one photo just isn't enough.........when one photo just doesn't tell the story.......and this sketch is based on one of those occasions.

Here is my LO created from the sketch.....{note to self}.....really must find a better place to photograph my layouts....the lovely bright yellow patterned paper looks washed out, as do the photos.
Happy scrapping and if you use this sketch please do send me a link to your creativeness.
