The Air Ambulance

Last year we were at a festival when the air ambulance flew in. I've never been so close to a helicopter landing and when you see people in the movies getting out of a helicopter gracefully, it really must take some doing. My...is a fierce breeze created by those ginormous propellers!!!

I've put together a layout of the WNAA and journalled about the air ambulance and how they rely purely on public donations.
I've used up some scraps again and chopped my leftover alpha's around to make the letters I was lacking. The rosette I made from this tutorial, and found tieing the rosette much easier to handle and adhere to the page and button. Thanks Sian.

Photo a week

Last week I failed our weekly photo challenge, lucky for me so did Karen. We decided to extend the challenge for another week, and believe me I needed another week of practise. This has to be one of the most frustrating challenges so far.....the subject is deliberate blur!! Well there's blur and there's just plain out of focus...which is most of my photos. I tried many a subject, settling on a deliberate blur action shot and this afternoon, after a disastrous morning at rugby (photo wise that is) I had to bribe Stan to ride past me (a hundred times) on his electric scooter. He (for once) was a willing subject, clowning around...even crashing...and after 100 photos these were the only decent ones and still they are not as sharp as I would have liked.
I'm wondering if Karen managed the challenge this week, watch this space for her fantastic photo of the week ..... I'm hoping she'll give me some tips for next time.

Craig Jones

Last year I posted some photos of the Bike Festival (looking back at these made me release that I took some great photo's that day).

I'd seen Shimelle's sketch of the week and thought it fitted perfectly with these pictures.

I pretty much scraplifted Shimelle's layout...oops!! but do you know it was so nice to finish a layout within the hour, I think that's a record for me. More often than not it takes me over an hour just to decide what paper to use.
Thanks Shimelle, this made a refreshing change.

A Winter Warmer

Jack, enjoying his hot chocolate.
I don't know about you but I buy papers and then keep them for ages, sometimes I never find the right photos *sigh* other times I like the paper so much, the photo spoils it!!!! *major problem*. These lovely MME quite contrary papers were perfect for boy/outdoor layouts so I brought a few in the range.......a year ago...... from the NEC stitch and craft show. This is a relatively short life for my papers I have a few pieces of A4 size from over 11 years ago when I first started scrapping....do you remember those Creative Memories days, when there really was nothing else available?

Next week I'm off to the NEC again an by using some of these papers I'll feel ever so better when I indulge and buy more *laugh*

Enjoy your week

Photo a week

This week's focus was motion blur. Karen completed this one perfectly with this photo. I never even considered my washing line.

In fact I didn't get around to completing this weeks challenge. So I've used a photo that I took a few weeks ago.

Thanks for stopping by.

oh sooo cute

Last year we had two new arrivals to the family and both were named Archie. There's my nephew Archie and the boys second cousin Archie. This layout is off Stan and cousin Archie and it's possibly my fave photo of Stan from last year........he looks so cute!!!
papers K&Co again.....I'm down to the last few sheets and scraps now.

a close up so you can see just how gorgeous Stanley really is...*laugh* You'd never know that he is a very stubborn and headstrong boy!! Oh believe me I could tell you a thing or two about this boys temper tantrums!!!!! He'll be seven in just over a week and as clear as anything I remember the first tantrum he ever had.....and I stood looking at him in shock..... I had no idea how to deal with him.....You see this was a first for me, Jack and Harry had never thrown one. Stanley and his tantrums are remembered well in the village!! I digress, sorry!!Back to the layout, a close up of my felt embellies, cut out with scallop and circle nestabilities. Much much cheaper than the lovely packs you can buy!
I've used the ticket die again and I liked the splash of pink/red spot I used in this layout, that I used it again here to brighten things up. Did you notice that I also got the sewing machine out and stitched lots, even stitching lines for some journalling.

My last post was the photo of the week, please go and check out Karen's cool bug. The vibrant colours and all the bug detail make this a fantastic photograph.

Photo a week

.....this week's photo challenge, Macro photography. After a week of deliberation and a while looking for bugs and slugs I settled on some tulips!! This is what I came up with.

I love tulips but mine always end up drooped over the vase, so when I overheard two woman talking in M&S, I thought I'd give it a go. She said if you put a 2p peice in the bottom of the vase the tulips will stay upright. So that's exactly what I did and would you beleive it four days later these tulips are still very much upright!! Which is just as well as it meant I was able to get some great photos.

Without a doubt this has been my favourite challenge so far, so I'd like to say thank you to Karen who is a fantastic photographer and has encouraged me and given me tips all the way through.

Make a wish

Last year I wrote about missing a photo opportunity.

On the same day, after I'd convinced Stanley to control himself until I said go!! *laugh*, I got a lovely photo of him blowing a "wish". The things us mums do to get a good photo eh! The photo really is lovely but you can't see all the detail from the picture of the layout.
I'm still using up the K & Co papers.

I've decided that I'm rather a lazy scrapbooker, if adding a little ink to a layout means rooting around and emptying half of my cupboard to find the right colour, I won't bother. If using the bigshot means going into the garage to find a die (I really must find room indoors!), I won't bother....so I was surprised to find I used this die on my layout. I brought it over a year ago when sizzix had a sale, I can't be sure but I don't think I've ever used it and believe me I have plenty of photos of the boys with *attitude*. I've used the rock ticket on this layout and wrote the word "you" on the heart on the left (not sure if you can make it out in the photo). I like the look of the tickets, so I'm using them again on a layout I'm working on at the moment.

Thankfully it's now the weekend, so hopefully I'll be back on Sunday with my photo for this weeks Macro challenge. Have a good weekend and thanks for stopping by.
