washi tape

Fantastic Ribbons is an wonderful online shop with a large selection of ribbons, buttons and washi tape. They were lovely enough to choose me and four other wonderful ladies to join their already existing design team. Throughout September fantastic Fantastic Ribbons will be posting a whole month of washi tape projects. Please do stop by to see what all the talented ladies are creating.

Today I'd like to share with you my very first Fantastic Ribbons project using a selection of washi tape which you can find here and here.
If you are not familiar with washi tape, it comes in lots of colours and patterns and there really is something to suit everyone.  I've used it on scrapbook layouts and cards before but for my first DT project I had the idea that I'd like to cover something.

There were a least half a dozen things I could have chosen, in the end I settled for some old coffee jars, they looked like they could do with brightening up..
.... just look at them now, they look so much prettier.
Washi tape really is so easy to use and re-use especially when covering in rounds around the jars and you have to lift the tape off again (and again and again) and re-position!

The purple Jar
To make the large purple flower cover some white card in washi tape.
The dots on all the tapes match up nicely so you get a continuous pattern.
Cut out six petals and fix them onto a circle of card to hold them in place.
Circle some thread/twine and finish off the middle of the flower with a little bling.

The Green Jar
To make the butterflies cover some white card in washi tape
and punch out the butterflies.
Sit the butterflies on top of torn stripes of contrasting washi tape to help them stand out.

This past weekend was lovely so on Saturday evening I put some tea lites in them and watched them glow in the garden.

Did i mention that fantastic ribbons will be posting a whole month of washi tape projects?
You'll have to let us know what you use your washi tape on.

Wishing you all a lovely week and fingers crossed we are still in with a chance of some more sunshine before I find another use for my washi jars.

Psst...if you are super organised and already thinking about Christmas then these might be just what you are looking for.
