Glitz Dapper Dan and Vellum

Last week SJ Crafts shared two layouts that I'd made with the Glitz Dapper Dan collection.

There was this one

and this one.

On both of these layouts I used Vellum. When I was creating these pages I was thinking about the last time I used vellum and decided to look through my albums to pinpoint how long ago it was. I reckon around 11 years ago or so, when number two son was a baby. It was red vellum too. Most scrapbooking tools and techniques come full circle, I am sure it's now the time for Vellum. Would you agree?
Like many scrapbooking techniques and tools, vellum seems to have come full circle.  I've spent the past hour working back through my albums to pinpoint the first time I used vellum on my layouts. I think it was around 11-12 years ago now. It looks as if, then red vellum was a firm favourite of mine. - See more at: http://sjpapercrafts.blogspot.co.uk/2013/10/more-dapper-dan-and-vellum.html#sthash.lsqJwD7S.dpuf

Simply a moment

Today's post is brought to you through Alexa's Simply a Moment. To join in or read more stories please pop across to Trimming the Sails.

Tuesday 15 October 2013 9.10pm.
After a long day at work it is nice to relax on the sofa. A cuppa at my side and my laptop perched on the arm of the sofa.

It's nice and quiet No3 son has been in bed for over an hour. I have to smile at him. Why is it he recalls everything that's happened in the day and decides to tell all at bedtime, despite pumping him for information when he comes home from school.
Anything for a few more minutes eh.

The front door bursts open and in comes No2 son. Dad picked him up from youth club tonight and he comes in, talking so loud and swinging a little sweet bag. He hands No1 son the bag and says there are three strawberries in there for you and three each for mum and dad too.

Bless this boy, he is so generous, spending his youth club pennies on us all. This boy would give you his last Rolo. He really would. He climbs onto the sofa between me and No1 son and snuggles up close, resting his head on me and reading your blogs over my shoulder. Don't get too comfy I say you have to go to bed...it's past your bedtime. It's 9.16pm and he says 4 more minutes. True to his word at 9.20pm (after 10 mins to wind down from a busy night) he kisses us goodnight. No, that's wrong. We kiss him. He offers us his head...always.
With two now in bed, No1 son pulls the throw onto the sofa and spreads it out between him and me. He looks over at his dad and says in a funny voice.....

 "bitbits daddy"

He eats his (McVities chocolate digestive - no other make compares!) biscuit and then takes himself off to bed.....
......and you know what....I'll not be far behind him.

Six cards on the sixth

Six cards on the 6th is a Christmas card challenge hosted by sj crafts

I've joined in again this month, now I am well on my way to having all my cards hand made this year.

This months cards were inspired by Julie Kirk and her going postal theme that I have been following with interest. I used vellum and a postage stamp punch (I was lucky enough to win a whole family of these punches a few years back when I took part in Julies Going Postal challenge) with luggage tags and postal stamped washi tape from Crafty Business 4u.

You have until the end of the month to join in and if you do SJ Crafts will enter you into a draw for a pizza box full of supplies......what are you waiting for :)

see you there x

Now it's your turn! Link up your cards below for a chance to win the pizza box full of stash (prize will go out in early January). We can't wait to see what you create! - See more at: http://www.sjpapercrafts.blogspot.co.uk/2013/10/octobers-six-cards-on-6th.html#sthash.PPvC3QEe.dpuf

He even bought the t-shirt

The hard rock cafe - have you eaten in one?

Even though we have passed the London restaurant on many occasions over the years our first experience of eating in one was on holiday last year.

Towards the end of our holiday the boys wanted to re-visit Universal Studios and Island of Adventure so we stopped for an late lunch...or you could say an early dinner.....between parks.

As they lead us to our table, I have to say, I thought the restaurant was pretty amazing. There was a car hanging over the bar!! The section we were seated in was a shrine to Jimmy Hendrix (in my husbands opinion...... the best guitarist ever......and he really does means ever!) It was....as if they had known. They really could not have seated us in a more perfect area.

Our whole experience of the Hard Rock Cafe was pretty cool, the food was (((huge))) fantastic, the atmosphere was great and there was plenty to look at and discuss.  A pretty cool experience to end an already perfect holiday.

You know the saying,...been there....done that....got the t-shirt. Now he really has!

A special thanks for this layout goes to Lucy, a fantastic card maker who sent me a beautiful box of goodies, including the cool "just a little randomness" stamp.

Story Telling Sunday - Pick your precious

...is hosted by Sian at From High in the Sky.
If you would like to read more stories today, or wish to join in, then pop across to Sian where she will be waiting to tell you all about it.

I wouldn't say I was an ornament type of girl. I can count on one hand the items that I consider precious and then there's a few items from our travels that I would consider less precious but still remain an important part of our lives.

This little lady was a gift given to me over eight years ago when I moved from London. I think this little lady is more precious because the gift was from my lovely next door neighbour, who is the person responsible for introducing me to scrapbooking over 14 years ago now.

As a Creative memories consultant she asked me to come along to a class. I declined gracefully, I was about to get married and had no idea what scrapbooking was or even if creating a memory album was something I wanted to do.

Fast forward 9 months (yes...my first born arrived nine months almost to the day I got married!, a honeymoon baby some may say....I'm not so sure he was 4 weeks early! and still 8lb 3oz!!) when my neighbour asked me again. This time I did go along (it wasn't far...just across the drive)......and well as they say....the rest is history!

This willow Tree figurine is called "Angel of Spring,...Bearing the promise of new beginnings".
A perfect gift.

I'll always be thankful for her persevering with me and asking me again...I wonder if she's knows just how much I  looked forward to those evening classes.

The figurine holding the heart was bought for me by my husband.....to keep the little lady company. It's another one of my precious pieces.

 Happy Sunday.

Pegging it out

Hello there.

Have you seen stamped pegs springing up on projects? I have and when Crafty Business4u gave me some of their new dainty pegs I had ...... one of those moments.

You know the ones where you think, I can do that. So the question was could I stamp on these pegs......hmmmm......

.......it was a little fiddly until I got a technique going....and it did take a few attempts to get it right.

There were a few that I wasn't happy with, waste not want not, I covered these in washi tape, that way I can still use them.

All that was left to do was too add them to my projects.

Epcot

I'd be interested to know if you've tried this out.

Enjoy the rest of your week, I plan to be back here for Story Telling Sunday.
