The Hobbit

Since the boys started school, most "dressing up" days have been the same despite the years between the boys. We've had Victorian days, Tudor days and Greek days. They've been Character's from books for World Book Day, not forgetting all the Christmas play's where over the years they've been Sheep, Stars, Rudolph, Joseph...and even an Angel...which someone wasn't impressed with.
We've also been Knights, Kings, Ugly Sisters, Policemen, Blue's Brothers and Cowboys.
Last year was a new one...........Hobbit day. Oh yes, they were reading the Hobbit and someone decided that they would introduce a Hobbit day. I mean...really!! With no "already to hand" outfit from previous years...we had to get creative. I searched the internet for Hobbit outfits and you know they are so expensive. The outfits and images did remind me that we had an adults Pirate and Wench outfit hanging in the wardrobe (oh yes! ....a story for another day :)! )

So the bloomers looked like full length trousers on him and the waistcoat was more like a cloak. The shirt has been previously used for Victorian and Tudor day's. All he needed was some elf ears and ....I think we pulled it off.

The Pirate outfit has since been adapted.....would you believe it, if I said that at the last school production he was Adam Ant. Sadly I am just old enough to remember Adam Ant!
More on good ole Adam and the Ants in another post.

So, what's the most challenging school theme you've come across?

See it, Pin it, Do it

It's been a week since I last posted and a long week it has been. No1 son has been away with the school. It was so lovely to be able to pick him up this afternoon. How we have all missed him. It sounds like he had a ball in Barcelona. He came home with little presents for everyone....ahhhh....a little bag of memorabilia....tickets, leaflets, receipts and maps and said he thought I might like them. He knows me well :)

Tonight I'm joining in with Fiona's See it, Pin it, Do it........at last.

Here's the card I pinned and below is the adapted card I made.
I believe the pinned card was made using watercolours and a gorgeous stamp.

Instead I used ink and bubble wrap and hooked out a Banana Frog flower stamp. I am sure that most things we see and love can be adapted to suit our style and supplies.

Have a fantastic day.

 Hello there,

Isn't it a shame the school holidays have to come to an end in the next day or so? I've enjoyed our lazy mornings, a rugby tour, a trip "up north", visiting family and days out. We've also managed a spring sort out where I supervised a garage tidy up and trip to the dump. On Tuesday we will be waving No.1 son off on his school trip for the week. Already I am missing him, it's his birthday while he's away too! I am hoping he has a wonderful birthday and enjoys his time away, making memories that he will remember forever.

On the crafting front I managed a few early morning sessions. One particular morning I came across the Clearly Besotted Spring Card Challenge and with lots of birthday's in April (including three friends who share the same day!) and a recent purchase from them.....I made a couple of birthday cards.

I used "In the Frame" stamps and to make stamping easier, some of the sets have matching die cutters.
The papers are from MME 6x6 paper pad.  I chose two 6x6 sheets for the card and used the leftovers to reverse the colour combo to make an identical card.

Misting a Grid Design

I found myself up very early one morning last week.... the whole house was snoring...even the furry one.  There is something about the tranquility of a house full of sleeping beauty's.

With an hour or so to myself,  I made a cuppa and disappeared into my little room. Remembering a video I had watched the night before over on Nina Christensen's blog I pulled out an old 6x6 template and some mists. Before I knew it an hour had flown by.

I started off with an old 6x6 template and sprayed a grid design onto my cardstock. This is what it looked like (after I'd stuck down the title).
Papers from SJ Crafts March Kit 7 Dots Illumination collection and Amy Tan's Plus One Collection.
Several layers were used under the photo, mainly leftover scraps. I have a thing about having to use up scraps and find that using several layers to matt a photo helps.
Can you see that I added my journaling to one of the layers, so it's hidden away under the photo.
The triangle stamp you see on the page is from Nina's shop, Stromsvig.
By now an hour had passed and still there was no sign of any life....so she reached for her "to scrap" pile of photos and started to put together another layout. Oh don't you just love the school holidays :).
Thanks to Nina, her video and grid challenge for inspiring this layout.

Amy Tangerine's Stickers

Well hello there, thank you for your kind words on my previous post. Unfortunately they lost there game against Portsmouth...it wasn't an easy win for Portsmouth by any means and our lads gave them a really good game. In our defense we were up against a team who had to borrow players from the age group above. With another year of growing and training for these boys....you really do notice a difference.

Today...has nothing to do with Rugby (ok...ok...you know me too well, there may be something slightly Rugby related here somewhere) ....It's all to do with....

Only......... you'll have to pop across to SJ Crafts to see..... how I used my leftover sticker sheet :)

The post features both layouts and cards....
I look forward to seeing you over there x
