More Mists...

I've been scrapbooking for a long time now, 15 years ago this month I started.. just after No1 son arrived. Some may say that one who scrapbooks also card makes. That wasn't always the case for me.

For a very very long time I wouldn't entertain the idea of card making and when I did start to dabble a little I never felt much for it. A few years back I wrote "I absolutely love the idea of a making them but hate the fact that making them always seems to be a struggle. I'm sure it's because there is no photo to take inspiration from".

How we change.......these days I really do enjoy making cards. I like how making a card is quick and easy.... mostly! How instead of hours of pushing paper around a layout (I am a slow scrapper) I can pull a card together pretty quickly. When time is precious making a card is just enough to take the edge of the itch I get to create.

This is my last card to share with you using the Heidi Swapp Stencils.

For those of you that may be interested in the stencils. Here is each stencil used with Heidi Swapps Colour shine. Aren't they lovely?

At the moment most of my crafting supplies have been packed away while we have some work done on the house. I'm still able to grab a few things, hopefully this will suppress those withdrawal symptoms I know I'll be sure to get.

Because of this you may well see some further card posts popping up for a while.

Enjoy your week.

Misted Cards

This week has been all about using my Heidi Swapp Shape Stencils.

When I was in the garden spraying. I ended up with far more stencil sprayed cardstock pieces than anticipated. I tried out every stencil in every colour. Why not.

This pile of pretty cards sat on my desk overnight and the following day I flicked through them and thought they may look good on cards.
Love Always
Love You
You're a Star
Hugs and Kisses
Dare I say that I have two sets of Heidi Swapp Stencil packs....I'll be sure to share the frame pack with you  when I get around to using them.

Boys & Comics

Growing up I loved reading a comic and I was reminded of this when H started to read them. Back in 2012 he bought a few of the Walking Dead Comic books and I knew as much as it was a zombie series on TV my sister watched and had on a few occasions tried to talk us into watching it too.
No thanks.
Not my kind of thing...or so I thought...that is until the day...

....The day that I sat on H's bed chatting to him. His Walking Dead comics were on his desk. I picked up the first in the series, opened it and began reading. Well, you have to make sure that what they are reading is suitable... don't you. As they say the rest is history. We left for Florida a week later and he bought some more (they are half the price in the U.S.) As soon as he'd read them he passed them to me. We came home and purchased series one on DVD. Three of us watched the series. H, his dad and me. The series is slightly different from the comics so H and I would confer whisper and compare.  I have to say I love the comics.... and the series.... which I'm looking forward to returning to our screens later this year.

I used more Heidi Swapp Shape Stencils on my monochromatic layout......with wonky stitching and a cute little bow I crocheted.
So are there any current comics fans out there?
 Or Walking Dead ones?

Love Locks

Good Morning, I am hoping it is a bright and sunny one for you all.

As promised I'm back with another layout using Heidi Swapp's Shape Stencils.

These love locks were all along the railings at the Albert Docks in Liverpool. I'd never before seen anything like it. There were engraved messages of love. Birthday's, wedding's and anniversary's and messages to ones that are no longer with us. A lovely way to record a special message.
These are some photos I took while using the stencils. Can see the level of coverage sprayed over the stencil. It starts from a very fine light spray to a more heavier coverage after a few sprays.
I thought I was being clever by taking it into the garden too.
Note to self: check which way the wind is blowing... so legs don't get covered in pink shimmer!

Once the cards were dry I stitched them to my layout. Simple and effective I think. More and more these days I use mist (or ink) on my layouts. How are you with mists?

Photobomb

Happy Sunday to you all.

I have been really slack lately. Slack in scrapping, slack in blogging and slack in blog reading. I don't know about you but I always find this happens at this time of year.

As the end of school approaches the last few weeks seem to drag. I get caught up in the end of parents evenings, school trips and holiday plans.

With only three more school days left I am so ready to relax and soak up the sun. We we never went away last year due to the surgery I had...so I feel that a holiday is a long time coming. Whatever your plans are this summer I hope you all have a super time.

I'll leave you with a layout that I made using Heidi Swapp Papers, Shape Stencils and Colour Mists
I hope to be back during the week to share with you some more layouts using the Heidi Swapp Stencils.

S J Crafts Challenge

The boys, work and sunshine (you have to enjoy it when it makes an appearance) has been keeping me busy...It feels like ages since I prepared a blog post. Today I find myself writing a quick post to let you know that the July challenge is now open over at SJ Crafts.

The idea for this challenge is that you choose 1 out of the five shapes/symbols to include on your project, 1 of the five phrases as your title or inspiration/theme and 1 of the five colours to include on your project.

The Shapes/symbols are: Butterfly - Banner - Star (or this could be a sun) - arrow - circle.

The Phrases : Summer Days - Right Now - You and Me - Explore - The Story ...
* You don't need to include the exact phrase but something very similar .... I need to be able to see the link *

Colours: Yellow - Light blue/Aqua - Red - Black - White
*Any shade of the colour is fine!*

I chose stars, the phrase right now and yellow to include in my layout. A layout of us girls in the family..the only girls (plus my mum, who's not in this shot)... my two sisters and niece. Us girls are a little outnumbered.

While you're over at SJ Crafts you may well see Sarah's announcement to say that she is closing her shop. Whilst I'll be sad to see her close I wish Sarah all the best with her future plans and thank her immensely for the opportunity to be on such a lovely design team. It has been a fabulous experience, I have enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you Sarah x
