Fridays Fancy - Still in use

Sian got me thinking the other week with this post.  She asked "what is the oldest thing you have made which has been in continuous use since it was formed"

.....and you know, there isn't a thing I've ever made still in use.....that I can think of.

My mother-in-law still has the clock, my husband made when he was at secondary school, hanging in her hall. It's next to the key ring holder his brother made at the same age. Around 12 years old. I must get a photo next time we visit!

I have kept many items the boys have made over the years, a little clay pot No1 son made in primary school which did hold loose change....until it was dropped last year!!!

Recently No2 son made a charm, a rugby ball....what else!
He gave it to me so I plan to use it as a key ring.

Now this isn't strictly something in use...although I suppose you could hang a few things on it :) ...
...No 3 son made it from Mod Rock. It's a roman man with a spear through him. He's wasn't amused when someone in the house said it looked like a man with a big willy!!
apparently the spear did go through the man...but the end snapped off.....which would make more sense....phew!

So have you shared something you've made which is still in use?

Friday's Fancies - Red wigs

In my last post I shared the base of a layout I prepared using inks, mists and stencils. Today i'm back to share the finished layout.
Circle and Triangle stencil from Happy Scatter Shop. Star stencil Tim Holtz
I have a series of photos of No1 son in a red wig. This one being my favourite. The story behind this wig wearing is journaled on the tag underneath the reads...

Dick of the Day (apologies) was awarded to you for kicking the rugby ball back into a mud berth after J jumped in and threw it out. said to didn't kick it back in, it hit your leg and bounced off when he threw it out. took it all in your stride, game for a laugh, and a wore your new wig, with style, for your game against Portsmouth the next morning.

This photo was taken as you came out of the changing room..B (the other handsome in the photo) is looking back at you admiring his handy work. He used his blue sock tape to put your gorgeous red curls into a ponytail.
Papers and embellies from Scraptastic Club kit

Today we are celebrating No3 son's birthday...this evening will be complete and utter madness.
Happy Friday to you - enjoy your day.

Friday's Fancies - On a Sunday morning

Lionel Richie's I'm Easy Like a Sunday Morning is the song going around in my head right now and I blame this layout I'm going to share with you today.

My Sunday mornings are far from easy!! They start by ensuring:-
  • the boys are up and are all wearing the right kit with plenty of layers
  • they have all packed their gum shields and rugby boots - the two most essential items.
  • they have packed their Number 1's, if they have a match (plus a towel and shower gel)
  • or packed a change of clothes if they haven't - for on the way home, so they do not cover the car in mud.
  • his legs are tapped up, if needed, with his lifting blocks
  • I have the right directions if we have an away game
  • my husband knows where he's going and with what son.....I know I know!!
  • I remember my camera..unless it's raining then I leave it behind.
Then I stand on a freezing cold, muddy field/pitch. Often in the rain. Sometimes walking between three pitches or wondering how the others are getting on if they are at a different club.

While I'm on that muddy pitch I do like to get a few photos and I am thankful that I am not the only one with a camera. This photo was taken last year when I went on tour with No1 son as my husband couldn't get the weekend off work. It was lovely to have some one to one time and to see all the camaraderie between the squad. A lovely bunch of young lads.

Onto the layout. I used Jennifer's scattered triangle stencil (the large wood veneer camera is from her shop too)  Mixing some Texture paste with Heidi Swapp shimmer mist and applying this to the layout through the stencil.
Can you see the depth and texture...I love it!!

Note to self...I must get a small spatular instead of using whatever comes to hand,
(bone folder or this time a pencil) to apply this paste.
... here you can see the full layout and me with my camera in hand.

So...are your Sunday Morning's easy?

One Photo & Twenty Words

Abi says find one photo and choose Twenty words to tell its story.

I'm so pleased Abi's meme came today after a superb win for No 1 son yesterday in the Plate

One Photo and Twenty Words.

An intense game to watch
so brilliantly played
they deserved to win
Yay ... they are through to the plate final.

Friday's Fancies

It's been a busy week here this week, with work, a school trip, two parents evenings, birthday organising, three evenings of rugby training ...and..preparation for an all day crop tomorrow.

If all is well there will be quite a few of us so I'm looking forward to tea...cake...good company...and  a little cutting and sticking.
Today I'm sharing with you a card I've made as a sample for tomorrow. I was asked by some lovely ladies if I would put together some card kits for them to work on.

Lets hope they like the designs I've come up with.....fingers crossed :)

Have a super Friday and enjoy your weekend x
