Love and Hate - part 2

The week before last I shared with you ten things I don't like, this week I'm sharing ten things I love.

You should try this (if you haven't already) it's harder than you think. This is what I came up with.

1. A cold beer (or cider) on a warm sunny day (there's nothing nicer *mmmm*)

2. Rugby, watching the boys play (who wouldn't want to support their children *yay*)

3. Family time (is the best time *whoop*)

4. Lunch with the girls (I look forward to our get togethers, they're a *hoot* )

5. Films (action movies are my preferred choice. Although my all time favourite film has to be
Grease *Grease is the word*. Who's going to have this in their head all day now )

6. Pretty papers, cutting, sticking and stamping (it gives me a kind of peacefulness *ahhh* )

7. Tattoo's (not that I have any - but I like the whole tattoo look. Especially on a fit man...did I really
    say that! *swoon*)

8. Cake (and plenty of it - this is my biggest fall down *yum yum*)

9. My camera and taking photos (although now the boys are getting older they moan like mad *sob*)

10. Being at home (it's my favourite place to be with the people I love, content and happy *oush*)

What about you, can you think of ten things you love?
Have a super weekend.

Personalised Wedding Pressie

I was recently asked if I knew anyone who could make a personalised wedding frame.
Shaking my head I said "no I don't think I do".

Hey... wait a minute...

"I could give it a go if you like, I've made other frames" I heard myself say.

"your on" she said, "you can make anything you like but I'd like their name and date of the wedding on it .... and it's for next week...".

This is what I came up with after thinking about it one evening. I knew I wanted to use vellum, for a delicate look and there has to be hearts for a wedding.

She loved it and wants me to make another, for a wedding she's attending later on in the year.

It's a nice feeling when someone appreciates your work :)

Me on Monday

Hello and welcome to Sian's Me on Monday meme.

Today is my last Monday in work for the next couple of weeks, so while I'm waving to you all from my desk at work, I'm thinking about the boys breaking up from school tomorrow and all the things I need to do for our summer holiday.

There was lunching with the girls, after school report reading and birthday celebrations. Then there was chicken buying, cake making (for the BBQ), BBQ eating, drinking and chilling. Holiday planning, sorting and washing all the camping equipment. Rugby training, frame making and a little gardening.
No3 son was invited to see Jessie J in concert with a friend and his family on Saturday evening. Lucky thing. He said she was brilliant and...funny.

A little surprise for No2 son (not something we normally do) left him grinning from ear to ear. It amazes me how much we actually pack into a weekend (Although the training photos were from earlier on in the week).

That's it from me today, have a good week x

The boys

Oh's the end of another week. It's been another busy one. I find the end of school year is always one of the busiest times.

Somehow I managed to scrap some photos from last years holiday. Just before this years holiday, there's nothing like being up to date :) !!

I had all these lovely photos of the boys all together and choose to use Shimelle's 4x6 photo love idea.

Are you off on your summer holiday's soon?

You can never have too many ....

There was a time when I had shoes for every occasion (and more). Work shoes, weekend shoes, comfy shoes, party shoes. Flats, high heels, low heels. Summer sandals, flip flops. Winter boots.

These days I have a small selection of work shoes and non-work shoes,
(they double up sometimes *shocking*).

These days I'm really fussy with buying shoes and when I find a real comfy pair I wear them and wear them and wear them, until they are worn out. Really.
What kind of shoes do you go for?
Do you go for comfort, or are you the kind of girl where pain fashion comes first and comfort second?

If you love your shoes, do you love your handbags?
would you choose a new handbag over a new pair of shoes?
I do love a new handbag.
Only I am not one to have a handbag to match every outfit or fit every occasion.
what about you?
Clearly Besotted stamps
Aren't these stamps cute?
These notelets are just waiting to be posted.

Me on Monday

Hello there. Although Sian has taken a break from blogging for a couple of weeks I'm still waving to you all on this Monday Morning....from my desk at work. We only have just over a week until the boys break for the school holidays and I have a couple of Monday Mornings at home.

Writing this post and thinking back over the week - it was an emotional one.

It started with secondary school induction days for No3 son, he found out that he wasn't in a form class with any of his primary school friends. Shame. I think I was more upset about it than him. He's with a rugby team mate, who lives outside the village, so he was happy enough.  We had an evening at the school to meet his form tutor, only she wasn't there. A good start. It seems strange, that after ten years, I will have no ties with the primary school anymore.

To mark the end of primary school, year 6 always put together a school production -  No3 son played Bernie Blackhead in the play "Oh what a knight" he had 49 lines (he tells me) and got the most laughs with his quick witted words.
Then there was The Prom. My baby :) He's grown into such a lovely young man, seeing him all dressed up in a three piece suit ready to head off made me a little emotional. We went to his friends house for pre-prom drinks, photographic opportunities and to see them all off. They arrived home around 11pm to get changed and head out to the after prom party.
Once the emotional stuff was out of the way. I enjoyed Friday afternoon tea with the girls and No2 son's fruit tarts (although they took a battering on the way home from school - they tasted real good).
I held a card class on Friday evening where we made 3 cards and a notelet set.

My little sister and little nephews came for lunch on Saturday. Sunday we (and the rest of the family) travelled down to London to spend the day with my other (younger) sister. The BBQ was delicious, it was warm but overcast and the rain held off until late in the afternoon after we'd all eaten.

Thats another week gone by. another Monday Morning.
How are you on this Monday Morning ?

P.S. You may have noticed that the past few weeks has been all about No1 and No3 son.....where their lives are at meeting points of big changes. My lovely No2 son has been plodding along, fitting in where need be. I know that soon enough there will be changes ahead for him too.

Love and Hate ..part 1

The lovely Karen's shared ten things she loves and ten things she hates...and you know I thought I'd share mine with you too.

When I started to really think about what I hated the most..this is what I came up with:
1. The word HATE. (my first thought was the world itself.  I don't like hearing this word, especially when it's said in a heated moment....*argh*)

2. Lolly sticks (the wooden type - they give me the bejeebers - anything where the wood is rough. The forks in fish and chip shops too...*shiver*)

3. People who clear their throat (you know that growling flemy sound....*heave*)

4. Bad manners (*grrr*)

5. Dirty fingernails (think its more a boy thing...*yuk*)

6. Having to talk in front of a group of people I don't know - sometimes even a group of people I do know (*heart beats so fast*)

7. Diets (it takes forever to get my mind in the right place to start one. Then it doesn't last long, I need to *get a grip*)

8. Mustard and Marmite (*spew*)

9. Lateness (if a time is agreed, that's the time. I can cope with 10 min if I'm waiting for someone, anything more I get *twitchy*.  If I am to be somewhere at a certain time I'd rather be half hour earlier than a minute late.)

10. My terrible memory (which seems to be getting worse the older I get/ or maybe it's because these days I have to remember stuff for five people *fustrating*)

What about you? Can you think of ten things you really don't like.

I'll be back to share ten things I love .... soon.

Have a super weekend.

One Photo and Twenty Words

Linking up with the very talented Abi for one photo and twenty words
Apologies if you've seen this already on IG tonight.

It seems only two minutes ago he started school.
Look at him now all handsome and ready for his prom.

I thought I was finished with all the backgrounds I shared with you. Then I came across the couple of watercolored ones I disregarded right at the beginning when I swapped to distress inks.

You know when you look at something again after a while and wonder what it was about it you didn't like the first time around. Honestly I think maybe I liked the look of the embossed backgrounds more than I like the watercolored ones.

Until now..... it would have been a waste to have thrown this away so I grabbed a stamp and die and ended up with a card I really like.

Text talk. I can't say I like it myself - how about you?  Am I the only one who would rather type out the full word than abbreviate it?

Now my dad has his own text talk. He only ever texts when they are away on holiday and believe me it takes us till they come home to decipher his message.  He is one, who writes GR8 so this stamp would be great  GR8 for him.

Me on Monday

Hello and good morning, don't Monday's come around far too quick?

This morning, as usual, I'm at work, hoping that today goes well for No3 son, who is having his induction day at secondary school. It's all about getting them ready for September.

The weekend started off well, lunch with the girls on Friday, where some bridal hairstyling was going on. Have I told you that my lovely friend is getting married abroad next year and all us girls are going with our families. A whole 40 of us. Whoop. It will be a blast.

There was the list writing (for our camping trip in a few weeks time), clothes shopping (to ensure No1 son has all the items he needs for the summer NCS Challenge), prepping for this weeks card class (I've had a zutter cutter for years and this time I remembered to use it), line practising (for the school play - apparently he gets better every time he rehearses!!), sixth form induction days and university visiting and long overdue haircuts (for all three of them).
It was our 17th wedding anniversary on Saturday and the husbter was working a long shift, so the boys and I spent the afternoon over mum and dads, dad put the Barbie on and my younger sister arrived with my nephews.  The little man hurt his arm, just before they got to us and after yesterday in A&E he has to go back to the fracture clinic today. They go to Florida in three weeks so I hoping it's nothing serious.

Oh and insurance renewing (yes he found a suitable quote), mobile phone ordering (yes he found me a suitable contract), window cleaning (he done a good job considering the heat) and oven cleaning (I think he wished he'd never started!).

While I was card prepping, someone was baking. All by himself. The last sponge I made sunk in the middle. His was pretty perfect. Between licking out the bowl and card prepping the Red Arrows flew over and we could hear the hum of the Grand Prix.
Weather wise, it has been pretty warm in these parts. No1 and No2 son started rugby fitness training this week, it was the hottest day in July....on record...ever! My car showed 36 degrees at 7pm. They were exhausted. In the early hours of Saturday morning, we had a big storm. I haven't heard thunder or seen lightening like that in a long long time... and the rain. Oh my... did it pelt down. Still, overall it has been very warm and mostly dry.

This post is brought to you as part of Sian, From High in the Sky's   Me on Monday meme....and it is fast becoming my kinda Project Life.

Happy Monday to you.

Bon Voyage

Happy Friday to you.

This week has been beautiful - some may say it's been too hot, I'm not complaining. I've waited a long time for some proper sunshine, I just hope it stays a little while longer.

I'm sharing a card today - even the sewing machine was dusted off. There was no-one in mind when making this ... I went with the flow and this was the result.

It's kinda cute.
Stamps are from Clearly Besotted
I'm off shopping this morning with No1 son, it's never ending at the moment. Later i'll be having lunch with the girls and getting my afternoon fix of non stop laughter.

Whatever you're doing today - enjoy yourself and have a lovely weekend. I'll see you on Monday x

The Walking Dead

Warning: if you are not into the whole zombie thing and they freak you may not wish to scroll down any any further!

Don't say I didn't warn you :)

It all started a couple of years ago when No1 son bought the first couple of Walking Dead comics. I posted about it here. No1 son and I share a love for these comics.

We all sit together and watch the episodes when they're on telly... after No2 and No3 son have gone to bed. It would give No3 son nightmares for sure.

When the hubster downloaded a zombie app on his phone, he spent ages turning us all into zombies... it must be boy thing.

I like the clean makes a change not to have stamped or inked on the page.
